Our Editorial Standards

At Nutrition Wellness Route, we are committed to delivering accurate, evidence-based nutrition guidance. Our editorial principles ensure every article meets rigorous standards of clarity, research integrity, and reader trust.

Transparency in our publishing process is fundamental to our mission of advancing plant-based nutrition knowledge across the United Kingdom and beyond.

Our Five Core Principles

Evidence-Based Research

📊 Did you know?

All nutritional claims are grounded in peer-reviewed scientific literature. We prioritise studies published in reputable journals and cross-reference findings across multiple sources to ensure accuracy.

Transparency & Disclosure

We clearly identify sponsored content, affiliate relationships, and potential conflicts of interest. Our readers deserve to know the funding and intentions behind every article they read.

Editorial Independence

Our editorial team maintains complete independence from commercial interests. All content decisions are made by our editors based on relevance, accuracy, and reader value—never commercial pressure.

Expert Accountability

All contributors are listed with their credentials and affiliations. Our editorial board reviews content for accuracy, and writers are held accountable for the claims they publish.

Continuous Improvement

We regularly update articles as new research emerges. Corrections and updates are noted transparently, and we learn from reader feedback to strengthen our editorial processes.

Our Fact-Checking Process

1

Source Verification

Before publication, every claim is traced to its original source. We consult peer-reviewed journals, published books by credentialed authors, government health databases (NHS, Food Standards Agency), and recognised nutrition organisations. Secondary or tertiary sources are verified against primary literature.

2

Editorial Review

All articles undergo at least two rounds of editorial review—once by our senior editor and once by a subject-matter expert. Reviewers assess scientific accuracy, clarity, balance, and alignment with our standards before any piece reaches readers.

3

Citation & Attributions

Every substantive claim is supported by in-text citations or reference links. Readers can follow sources directly and verify our statements. We cite specific studies with authors, publication dates, and journal names—never vague appeals to "research" or "experts say."

4

Ongoing Monitoring

After publication, we monitor new research and reader feedback. If significant new evidence contradicts our article, or if a factual error is discovered, we update the content promptly and note the change transparently at the top of the article.

Editorial Leadership Team

Our editorial decisions are guided by a diverse team of nutritionists, researchers, and content specialists with decades of combined expertise in plant-based nutrition and health communication.

Corrections & Updates Policy

How We Handle Errors

If a factual inaccuracy is discovered, we correct it immediately and prominently. A note stating "Correction:" appears at the top of the article with the date the error was identified and what was changed. This ensures readers see both the original claim and the correction in context.

Updates for New Research

Nutrition science evolves. When significant new research contradicts earlier guidance, we update the article and add a note: "Updated [date]:" with a brief explanation of the new information. All substantive updates are documented so readers know when content was revised.

Reporting Errors

Readers who identify potential inaccuracies can contact our editorial team at [email protected]. Please include the article title, the specific claim in question, and your evidence. We review all submissions promptly and respond within 5 working days. If the error is confirmed, we correct it and credit the reader in our corrections log.

Limitation Notices

Where research is preliminary, contradictory, or limited to specific populations, we clearly state these limitations. Articles are never presented as definitive when evidence remains evolving. We distinguish between consensus, evidence-based guidance and exploratory research.

Archive of Corrections

We maintain a public log of all material corrections and updates made to our published articles. This log is available to readers upon request, demonstrating our accountability and commitment to accuracy over time.

Author Credentials & Conflicts of Interest

Author Qualifications

All authors are required to have relevant credentials in nutrition, dietetics, food science, or health communication. We list each author's qualifications, professional affiliations, and areas of expertise at the end of every article. Readers can verify credentials and understand the author's background and perspective.

Disclosure of Relationships

We require all contributors to disclose any financial, professional, or personal relationships that could influence their writing. This includes employment, grants, consultancy work, speaking fees, stock ownership, or personal relationships with people or organisations discussed in their articles. These disclosures appear at the end of every article.

Conflict of Interest Policy

Authors with significant financial interests in products or companies discussed in their articles are not permitted to write about those topics. For example, an author who owns a supplement brand cannot write articles promoting that brand. Our editorial team assesses potential conflicts and may reassign articles to maintain impartiality.

Sponsored Content Labelling

When Nutrition Wellness Route publishes sponsored or partnership content, it is clearly labelled at the top of the article as "[Sponsored Content]" or "[Partner Article]." The sponsor is identified, and readers understand that the content was created or funded by an external party. Sponsored content does not influence our editorial coverage or standards.

Accessibility & Inclusivity Standards

Our commitment to readers extends to how we present information. All articles adhere to the following standards:

  • Plain Language: We avoid jargon and explain technical terms. When specialised terminology is necessary, we define it clearly in context.
  • Cultural Sensitivity: Articles acknowledge diverse food traditions, economic circumstances, and cultural practices. We avoid a one-size-fits-all approach to nutrition guidance.
  • Inclusive Language: We use person-first language and avoid stereotypes. Articles are written for readers of all backgrounds, abilities, and dietary contexts.
  • Visual Accessibility: Images include descriptive alt text. Charts and infographics have accessible data representations. Video content includes captions where applicable.
  • Socioeconomic Awareness: We acknowledge that cost, availability, and access affect dietary choices. Articles offer practical guidance that works across different budgets and circumstances.
